时事节目作家金秀炫(李宝英饰)与律师丈夫韩志勋(金泰佑饰)感情美满，女儿小星也非常可爱。奇东灿(曹承佑饰)领头的讨债团伙找错事主恐吓秀炫，他们因此被关押警局难以脱身。逃学的小星与智障永奎成为朋友，秀炫屡次阻止女儿与其来往但收效甚微。咖啡馆的神秘老板预测秀炫与女儿将遭遇不幸，秀炫却并未当真迅速离开。警察组长玄宇镇(郑糠云饰)参与调查江南连续残杀妇女案，秀炫因工作与初恋宇镇重逢。杀人凶手在节目直播中打来恐吓电话，同时秀炫得知小星失踪的消息。
